Opening night!

We had a wonderful opening weekend! Even though it seemed like we were in the middle of a hurricane in New York City!

After about four months of intense rehearsals, my dancers, collaborators and I were very excited to see ANNETTE materialize into its own world! This time the dancers and I pushed ourselves beyond just movement! I am always amazed at the creative process; how things fall together and how after a long time of working with a puzzle the piece reveals itself.

This piece required more speaking onstage than what I usually do, which I combined with my crafted and athletic movement. I felt this was a huge achievement, and I am glad the dancers and I stretched ourselves into new territory and to be honest, I have to thank the real ANNETTE whose fearless flamboyance was a constant source of  inspiration!

I feel very fortunate to have had this experience of working at Dixon Place! Nowadays, it is such an advantage  for an artist to be able to develop the work and perform it in the same place. Dixon Place has been very generous each step of the way, and they have a fabulous new theater!

Come check it out! Mention "OLIVER" at the box-office, this weekend and you get 2 for1 ($20).

What's been said:

This is a perfect show in this reality-show world we live in. Absolutely ...Delightful. Every minute is a fun filled kaleidoscope fantasy."
