And while we wait...

I created a short film: Pandemic. A moment's response to quarantine and the need to go outside and dance in an open space where I could stretch my limbs, feel the space around me, while following internal rhythms. I set the camera on and what you see are the first reactions and improvisations. Pandemic was created at the end of June and published on July 1st.

During the month of August, you can view the entire 4:30 min screendance. When you contribute a minimum of $5 through my paypal account (button on the side) and email Regina Nejman & Company at rnejmancompany@gmail.com , I will send you the password for the link:

Enjoy viewing! Enjoy the summer!

                                                                           Hello friends,

Before the pandemic started and our lives moved indoors, I had begun to work on a new dance, with my collaborators, and early in the year, Regina Nejman & Company was awarded a 2020 Creative Engagement Grant from Lower Manhattan Cultural Council https://lmcc.net/ . My collaborators and I were very excited to continue developing BUBBLE in the studio.

Like everything else, our rehearsals were put on pause.

Moving through the anxieties of this moment, the losses and the disruption of normal life, we learned to be more patient. And the silver lining: New York became quieter, the air cleaner and waking up every morning to the sound of birds a new reality!

As we wait to get back into the studio, we return to our craft as an essential part of life: dance as healing, self- expression and a "way of being in your body", it is essential not only for us dancers, but for those who experience it too. Its power is real. I have been doing my own ballet class warm-up at home, dancing to songs like "let the sun shine" and others, as well as my home-based contemporary dance class "avec" Yoga. I can't wait to get back into the studio! But now it's different. We have to wait, we have to think differently. Working creatively lifts us up from the chaos of daily life giving us hope, beauty and support for each other.

Please check back here in the next months for more information about BUBBLE.

It took me three months of lockdown to finally be able to write here. Be well. Be safe!
